Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman from the United States. She is the President and the controlling owner of Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. Buss was born in California and grew up as part of a rich family. Jerry Buss is her father. He was a real estate tycoon, and later the proprietor of Lakers as well as other companies. Their relationship ended in 1972, which caused her to feel like she was neglected. When she was 19, she began working within the family's company. Then, she established her own Los Angeles Blades pro roller hockey team. She served as the president of the Great Western Forum before assuming the duties of the vice president for the Lakers. Her father died in 2013, and the ownership of the Lakers was inherited by Buss as well as her siblings by a trust of the family with each sibling having an equal vote. Buss assumed the role of president of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss also co-owns Women of Wrestling, a professional promotion of wrestling with its the headquarters located in Los Angeles.
